Hello! I am going to assume that since you are here you are at least minorly interested in me, and am going to hazard a guess that you’ll want to know a bit more about me. This page is my attempt at giving a small snapshot of myself.
I am John, a 24 year old living in Gateshead, UK with my wife Danni. We met online and have been married since August 2010. I got to know her on the virtual world Second Life, through which I got to express myself in a way that I would not be able to in person. I am naturally shy when it comes to expressing myself- I found the quasi-anonymity of Second Life and the ability to customise an avatar to the extent that is possible there to be a great way of being able to communicate with people that I otherwise would have stayed away from.
In the past few years I have gone from looking after someone with mental health difficulties to looking after the same person after the development of severe Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.). This change has meant that my caring role has both become drastically different and has taken a lot of my time. This, combined with my own mental health difficulties and lack of support from the local authority, have led to the vast majority of my time being spent in my flat.
This blog will be attempting to get some of the thoughts that I amass during these many hours into a form that maybe other people will enjoy reading. I will warn you, a lot of the posts from here on out could very much end up being political in nature and I very much lean to the socialist end of things. If you want to see someone conform to the rightist messages of the current political top dogs, you will not find that here. What you will find is my opinions and thoughts on current affairs, usually with a focus on welfare, disability and my personal experiences of these.
In my caring role, I have to keep a constant eye on my wife- she could need me at any moment, at any time of the day. I am basically on call 24 hours a day, which causes various issues when it comes to my ability to lead my own life. I am trying to work on this, but it is difficult when a worsening in my wife’s health leads to me needing to spend even more time caring. That said, she spends a lot of time asleep. This gives me the ability to maintain some manner of interest in things, including my big passions: Computing and thinking politically.
When I’m not thinking politically, I am probably either in my caring role or playing video games to distract myself. I have been a gamer for a long time now- over 2 decades. I may end up blogging about this side of things, though most of the things I release to the public related to this will be on my YouTube channel instead; the link is at the top of every page on this blog.
hehehe ,, never been here before!
